MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Bemidji State senior catcher
Shaun Ross has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate
Conference Baseball Co-Player of the Week for April 16, the
league office announced yesterday.
Ross hit .483 in eight games for BSU last week, leading the
team to a 6-2 record (6-0 against NSIC foes). After starting
2-for-7 at the plate in BSUs non-conference double-header
at North Dakota State on April 16, Ross heated up in six games
against UM-Crookston and UM-Morris.
In those six games - all BSU wins - Ross led the team with
a .545 batting average (12 for 22). His 12 hits in the six
NSIC games were a team high, and he also led the Beavers with
nine runs scored, six doubles, 12 RBI, 21 total bases and
a .955 slugging percentage.
He was also perfect in the field in 37 attempts at his catcher
position.
Ross went 4 for 5 with three doubles, five RBI and three runs
scored in BSUs 15-8 win over UM-Crookston in Game 2
of a double-header on April 17. The four base hits and three
doubles each mark a season high by a BSU player, and his five
RBI are a personal season high and one of just three five-RBI
games by a BSU hitter this year.
Ross then went 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored
in a 13-1 win over UM-Morris in Game 1 of a double-header
on April 20, then came back on April 21 with a 2 for 4, four-RBI
day in Game 1 of the second twinbill in the series.
For the week, Ross drew a walk and did not strike out in
29 at-bats. |
