Tigers score nine unanswered runs in 11-1 win
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (Rab Rodgers Field) -

15 team in the nation the Ouachita Baptist Tigers completed
a three-game sweep over the Bemidji State Beaver with an 11-1
win. Tiger pitcher, Trent Lingle, four hit gem to lift the
Tigers over the Beavers today in Arkadelphia, Ark.
It didn’t take the Tigers lone to break the scoring
open as the No. 15 team in the nation put up five runs in
the first two innings to take a 5-0 lead after two innings
of play. The Tigers got on the board on a double to center
field by Justin Pennell that scored runners from second and
third to put the Tigers up 2-0. Destan Makonnen hit an RBI
single to right center field and Chandler Boyce hit an RBI
double to center field to push the Tiger lead to 4-0 after
one inning of play.
The second inning was highlighted by Chance Beasley’s
two out homerun that gave the Tigers a five run cushion through
two innings.
The Tigers took advantage of a few Beaver errors in the fourth
inning. A throwing error by Mike Wagner (Plymouth, N.H.) allowed
lead off man David Fischer to advance to second base on the
throw. A batter later Fischer would score on Beasley’s
single to center field. Jim Streicher did the rest of the
damage in the inning when he hit a two run single up the middle
to plate the runners from second and third and push the Tiger
lead to 8-0. The Tigers added one more run in the fifth inning
to take a 9-0 lead into the sixth inning.
The Beavers lone run of the game came in the sixth inning
they put a string of hits together producing three of their
four hits in the sixth inning. Mike Wagner (Plymouth, N.H.)
started the inning off with a single to right field, followed
up by a walk by Anthony Turk (Little Falls, Minn.) that gave
the Beavers runners on first and second with no outs. Rich
Bohannon (Goodyear, Ariz.) loaded the bases when he hit a
single up the middle. Josh Silvernagel hit into a double play,
that saw the third baseman go home to get the out at home
and then the catcher to first base to turn the double play.
P.J. McIntee (Randolph, Minn.) singled up the middle scoring
Turk from third for the Beavers only run of the game.
Ouachita Baptist scored two more runs in the seventh inning
to complete a 11-1 victory over the Beavers.
Casey Allar (Sartell, Minn.) took the loss for the Beavers,
dropping his record to 0-2 on the season. Allar pitched 3
1/3 innings giving up eight runs (eight earned) on nine hits
and three walks. Jake Miesen (Springfield, Minn.) and Ryan
Bohannon (Goodyear, Ariz.) came in for relief for the Beavers.
Miesen pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up one run on one two
hits and Bohannon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs
on no Tiger hits.
Trent Lingle pitched a complete game for the Tigers giving
up just one run on four hits and striking out just one Bemidji
State batter.
Bemidji State saw for batter pick up hits for the Beavers,
P.J. McIntee, Anthony Stoloski (Half Moon Bay, Calif.), Mike
Wagner, and Rich Bohannon all picked up one hit in the contest.
McIntee picked up the lone RBI for the Beavers.
Bemidji State (0-13) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon
as the Beavers will take on Missouri Western State University
in Arkadelphia, Ark. at 1:00 p.m.
