BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University women’s
golf team traveled to Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes,
Minn. for the Cobber Open. This marked the first event for
the Beavers in 2002.
BSU placed fourth in the one-round event with a score of
340. The University of North Dakota took the top spot with
a team total of 330, beating St. Cloud State in a tie break.
According to the procedures for the Cobber Open, the fifth
player’s score was added to the total team score. UND’s
fifth golfer, Tara Belyea, finished her round with an 86 giving
UND the win over Frances Rise (88) and St. Cloud State University.
Dana Hasselberg was Bemidji State’s top individual
finisher with a round of 82, a score that would place her
in a tie with Southwest State’s Laura Lundbohm and Northern
Colorado’s Petra Lindgren. Just two strokes back for
the Beavers was Marci Falldorf. Her round of 84 was good enough
to land her in a three-way tie for 11th.
Up next for the Beavers is the Concordia Invitational in
Detroit Lakes, Minn. The first round is today with a tee time
of noon and the two-day event culminates with a shotgun round
Sunday with tee off at 9:00 a.m.
