BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University women’s
golf team traveled to Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes,
Minn. for the Concordia College Invitational Sept. 7-8. In
the two-day event the BSU team finished in fourth place led
by BSU junior Dana Hasselberg who finished in second place
and senior Marci Falldorf was back just two spots in a tie
for fourth place.
After day one of competition, BSU was 11 stokes out of third
place with a team score of 331. Individually, Hasselberg and
Falldorf were tied for the third best score of the day at
78. In the second day of competition, the Beavers swung the
club much better as they finished with the second best team
score, 323(+78). But the St. Cloud State Huskies would shoot
a 326, holding the Bemidji State off for a third place finish.
Dana Hasselberg was Bemidji State’s top individual
finisher. Shooting 78 and 79 landed her in a tie with MSU-Mankato’s
Becky Digmann at 157 (+13) for the event. Just one stroke
back was BSU’s Marci Falldorf (78,80). Both golfers
were chasing University of Northern Colorado’s Emily
Russell (80, 76) who took the top spot in the tournament shooting
a great final round and propelling Northern Colorado into
the team championship.
Up next for the Beavers is the Dragon Invitational. BSU will
travel to Meadows Country Club in Moorhead, Minn. Sept. 13-14
for the two day event.
