Detroit Lakes, Minn. - Yesterday at the Wildflower Golf Course, the Beavers tallied a second and final round of 318 for a two-day total of 641 to take seventh among the 13 teams competing. BSU finished ahead of all five NSIC teams: Northern State (8th), Minnesota-Crookston (9th), Winona State (11th), Wayne State (Neb.) (12th) and Minnesota-Morris (13th).

Bemidji State was paced by the 156 (78-78) of freshman Nate Baldry (Hutchinson, Minn.), who tied for 19th overall. Next in the competition was sophomore Kendall Walker (Castle Rock, Colo.) tied for 32nd (82-78=160) and sophomore Toby Palmiscno (Grand Forks, N.D.) tied for 39th (81-81=162).

“Baldry is a good player and will get a lot better,” said head coach Don Niskanen. “He will, in fact, be a very good player some time very soon.”

Central Missouri State took the crown with a 312-294=606 while Cam Hubbard from Washburn University carded a 147 (73-74) to take the individual title.

“Condition were very tough and windy,” said Niskanen. “However, we simply did not play to our ability in this tournament nor any other. I think that our youth may be the reason for that.”

Next up for BSU is the Twin Cities Classic, Saturday through Monday.
