DETROIT LAKES, MINN. -- After tying for second on Monday, Bemidji State dropped to eighth-place with a 614 (303-311) at the Central Regional Fall Invitational in the second and final day on Tuesday. Junior Toby Palmiscno tied for fourth (72-74=146) to lead the squad at the Wildflower Golf Course.

Truman State won the team title in a tiebreaker with a 597 (301-296). Bret Toftness from Winona State competed individually and was champion with a 144 (71-73).

“ We played real well the first day considering the weather,” said head coach Don Niskanen. “We were tied for second with a 303 but went into the well the second day.

“I thought we were going to do better the second day compared to the first.”

The 303 team score on day one for BSU was two strokes behind leader Truman State. Junior Matt Gorden tied for 10th with a 150 (75-75) while junior Ben Stecher, who tied for 39th (75-82=157), freshman Hiraku Aoki, who tied for 47th (81-80=161), and junior John Martin with a 82-83=165 (54th), completed the team score.

Freshman Jared Stull fired a 159 (83-76) and tied for 44th as he competed individually.

The Beavers travel to the Twin Cities Classic for a three-day event, Sept. 27-29.
