Beavers finish 10th at Erv Kaiser Invite

FARGO, N.D. - After finishing the first day of the Erv Kaiser Invitational trailing only the eventual champion North Dakota State, the Bemidji State men’s golf team stumbled in the second and third rounds, finishing the tournament in 10th place.

North Dakota State, which sported a three-round total of 923, narrowly shaved Manitoba by two strokes. Jay Haug, competing for NDSU’s ‘B’ squad, claimed individual honors by firing a 9-over 225.

For the second time in his first three events as a BSU golfer, freshman Neil Rude (White Bear Lake, Minn.) finished as the tournament’s top Beaver. Rude’s three-round total of 233 earned him a tie for 11th place in the individual standings. Senior Toby Palmiscno (Grand Forks, N.D.) delivered Bemidji State’s only par round of the weekend, shooting a 72 in the first round at the Oxbow Country Club.

Bemidji State finished the event with 962 strokes, 39 more than NDSU. The Beavers’ ‘B’ squad placed 14th with 982 strokes.

The team’s next action will be on September 27 and 28 at the NCAA Division II Qualifier, held at Detroit Lakes’ Wildflower Golf Course.
