Beavers in 15th after first day of Twin Cities Classic

ELK RIVER, Minn. - After the first day of the Twin Cities Classic, Bemidji State’s men’s golf team sits in a tie for 15th place, 28 strokes behind the tournament-leading University of St. Thomas.

Senior Toby Palmiscno (Grand Forks, N.D.), who finished tied for 28th in the individual standings, carded the Beavers’ best round of the day. His score of 76 was two strokes better than freshman teammate Neil Rude (White Bear Lake, Minn.).

The University of St. Thomas’ Brett Egge fired a 32 on the back nine, propelling him to a tournament-leading five-under-par 67. Only three golfers finished under par at the par-72 Elk River Country Club.

The second round of the event will be held Sunday in Ramsey, Minn. at the Links at Northfork. Monday’s final round will be hosted by the Stillwater Country Club.
