Bemidji State in second place after first round of NSIC Championship

BECKER, Minn. - Bemidji State shot 320 in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men’s Golf Championship on Friday, placing the squad in second at the two-day event. Winona State leads the event by 15 strokes heading into the final round.

Winona State’s Matt Horel fired an opening-round 73, the lowest individual score of the event. Sophomore Hiraku Aoki (Akita, Japan) was the only BSU golfer to break 80 on the day. He carded a 76, placing him in a tie for second individually.

Hosted by the Pebble Creek Golf Club, the final round of the championship, will be held on Saturday afternoon. The lowest-scoring team will be named 2004 conference champion, while the top eight individual finishers receive All-Conference honors.
