Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Due to wet course conditions and continuing rain, the final day of the 2007 men's and women's Augustana Invitational has been rained out. The final 18 holes will not be made up due to heavy competition schedules for Sunday and Monday.

The Bemidji State women's team finished the event in eighth place with 399 in the 18-hole event.

BSU was led by sophomore Jenna Schurman (Sauk Centre, Minn.) who tied for 32nd place with a 42-43--85 (+13). Junior two-sport athlete Jenny Wenlund (Elk River, Minn.) shot a 52-48--100 to finish tied for 52nd. Newcomers Kayla Braaten (Fr., Mayville, N.D.) and Kelsey Kaufman (Fr., Eau Claire, Wis.) finished 54th and 56th respectively.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha earned team honors after firing a 308 (+20) on day one at the par 72, 5,830-yard Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. Upper Iowa University's Laura Taylor earned medallist honors carding a 35-38--73 (+1) to hold a two-stroke lead over the rest of the field.

The Beaver men also earned an eighth place finish in the event. BSU shot a 308 (+24) on day one wrapping up 18 holes of play just one stroke behind the University of Sioux Falls (307) and four shots out of third place.

The University of South Dakota took the team title with a total of 299 (+15) on the par 71, 6,530-yard Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. Augustana's Nick Weets carded an even 35-36--71 to hold a one-shot lead for medallist honors.

BSU was led by the duo of Clint Cornell (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Mitch Mackedanz (So., Paynesville, Minn.) who were each five strokes off the lead firing a five-over 76. Adam McArthur (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) was just one shot back (37-40--77) locked in a tie for 23rd while Neil Rude (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Jeff Peltier (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) each recorded an 18-hole total of 78 to share 33rd place.

Both Bemidji State squads will be back in action tomorrow (April 1) as they travel to The Bluffs Golf Course and Vermillion, S.D. to participate in the 36-hole, two-day University of South Dakota Invitational. The women are slated to hit the course at just after 10 a.m. with the men beginning play at 1:20 p.m.
