Bemidji State earns third place to open 2007-08 season

MOORHEAD, Minn.
(Wild Flower Golf Course) -- Newcomer Jim Foss fired a three-over-par 75 Friday to finish in fourth place at the Concordia Men's Golf Invitational at The Meadows Golf Course in Moorhead, Minn. BSU squads finished with team totals of 313 (+25) and 315 (+27) respectively.

Foss' 75 was four strokes off the pace as North Dakota Sate University's Spencer Hilde nabbed top honors carding a one-under 71 But it was hosting Concordia College that took home the team title in the 18-hole event. The Cobbers clubbed a four-stroke lead over the field with team score of 307 (+19).

BSU team of Mitchell Mackedanz (77), Neil Rude (78), Clint Cornell (79) and Adam McArthur (79), who all finished among the event's top 25, posted the Beavers' team score entry placing third with 313.

Per NCAA rules, each school can only submit one team score per event. The Beavers other team would have finished locked in a tie for fifth after recording a 315 (+27).

The BSU contingent will take Saturday off in preparation for its own Bemidji State Men's Golf Invitational. The 36-hole event is slated for Sunday and Monday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. opening round tee times begin just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the teams schedule for an 8 a.m. shotgun start for Monday's final round.
