BEMIDJI, Inn. (Bemidji Town and Country Cub) -- The 2007 Bemidji State University Men's Golf Invitational got underway Sunday at the Bemidji Town and Country Club and the Beavers finished the first day of competition three stokes behind St. Cloud State University in second place with a team total of 295 (+7).

Clint Cornell carded a one-under-par 36-35--71 to lead the way for BSU sitting two strokes out of the lead in second place with 18 holes to go. Mitchell Mackedanz and Neil Rude also finished among the low 20 scores on the first day of the event as each shot 74 (+2).

Individually, Winona State University's Brady Strangstalien turned in the day's best score firing a 32-37--69 (-3) while St. Cloud State enters the final 18 holes of the event clutching a three stroke lead over the rest of the filed with a team total of 292 (+4).

The 15 teams represented in the event will be back on the course early Monday to play the final 18 holes of the event. The shotgun start is set for 8:30 a.m.
