FARGO, N.D. (Oxbow Country Cub) -- Newcomer Josh Dale finished the first day of the Erv Kaiser Invitational carding an even 72 to pace the Bemidji State Golf team and tie for second place. The first round of the 54-hole, three-day invitational at Oxbow Golf Course in Fargo, N.D.

Dale finds himself two strokes out of medallist honors and North Dakota State University's Lee Cavanagh who was the only participant for finish under par at 70 (-2) Friday. Cavanagh's Bison hold down the top two team spots as well. NSDU-A leads the seven-team tournament with a 302 (+14) on day one.

Bemidji Sate, which is participating in the event as a split squad, sits in third and fifth places after 18 holes. BSU Green is eight shots behind the leading Bison (310; +22) while BSU White carded a 312 (+24).

Other notables for the Beavers on day one were Neil Rude who enters the final 36 holes five stokes off the lead (75; +3) in sixth place, Jim Foss is tied for 12th after totaling 77 (+5) and Mitchell Mackedanz and Clint Cornell each posted a 78 (+6).

The second round of the event is set for a 10 a.m. start tomorrow at The Meadows Golf Course in Moorhead, Minn. The third, and final round is set for the Fago Country Club Sunday.
