ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Bemidji State University senior Neil Rude (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been selected as the Men's Co-Golfer of the Week by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Rude garners the award for his performance at the Fall Central Regional Sept. 24-25 at Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
Rude carded an even 70-74--144 (E) to pace the Beavers and finish tied with Winona State University's Jeff Porter for second place individually. His score helped propel the Beavers past conference rivals University of Minnesota, Crookston and Concordia University-St. Paul on the final day of the two-day, 36-hole event and place BSU third.
The award is the first of the fall season for the BSU men's golf team and is the second of Rude's collegiate career. Ironically, he earned his first NSIC honor almost a year ago to the day, Sept. 27, 2006, following his play at the Sioux Invitational.
The BSU men will be back in action this weekend (Sept. 29-30) when they travel to Winona, Minn. for the Winona State Invitational.
