[RD1 results]

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Willow Run Golf Course) -- Clint Cornell (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Mitch Mackedanz (So., Paynesville, Minn.) each fired a five-over 76 in the first round of the Augustana Invitational, individually tying for 16th place and pushing the Beavers into a tie with Upper Iowa for eighth place with 308. The event wraps up tomorrow with round two at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D. The participants are scheduled to tee off at 11 a.m.

The Beavers were +24 on the day and head into day two nine shots off the pace set by the University of South Dakota (299).

Individually, Augustana's Nick Weets carded an even 71 (35-36) to hold a one-shot lead in the chase for medallist honors. Both Cornell and Mackedanz are five shots back.

Adam McArthur (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) leads an additional Bemidji State team with a 37-40--77 (+6) and is locked in a tie for 23rd place. The second BSU team enters day two of the season's opening event in 15th place.
