LAKE CITY, Minn. (Jewel Golf Club) -- Bemidji State
University men's golfer Jeff Peltier (Sr.,
Grand Rapids, Minn.) fired a 74 (+3) Monday in the first round
of the 36-hole Concordia University Spring Invitational at
Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn. His opening round places
him in fifth individually and helped lead the team to a share
of the lead (299).
Peltier was just one of four BSU student-athletes to card
top-10 scores on day one at the par 71, 6,551-yard course.
Neil Rude (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.),
Clint Cornell (So., Grand Rapids, Minn.)
and Mitch Mackedanz (So., Paynesville, Minn.)
each posted 75 (+4) to finish ties with two others for ninth
place.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston also finds itself atop
the team standings heading into day two. The Golden Eagles
were led by Kyle Peterson who along with Winona State University's
Kevin Loeffler and Nick Gallaway of hosting Concordia University-St.
Paul each carded and even 71 to lead all participants.
Bemidji State and the rest of the six-team field will tee
off on the final round Tuesday.
