Edwards paces BSU in final regular season event

(King's Walk Golf Course) -- Bemidji State University freshman Courtney Edwards (New London, Minn.) shaved eight strokes from her round one 89 to post an 81 on day two and finish the Fighting Sioux Invitational Monday with a 170 (+26) to finish locked in a tie for 34th place.

Edwards paced a trio of BSU participants with Jenna Schurman (Jr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) two strokes back tied for 39th (83-89--172 ; +28) and Marissa Mackedanz (Fr., Paynesville, Minn.) rounding out the group alone in 51st with a 94-93--187.

The University of Nebraska-Omaha, led by Sara Wolfe and Lynn Mulligan, took the team title by a 12 strokes (313-314--627; +51). Wolfe tied for first carding a 75-78--153 (+9) while Mulligan tied for third with a 78-76--154 (+10).

Due to lack of participants, BSU did not compete as a team. In order to submit a team score, at least four individual scores are needed.

The Bemidji State women begin play in the 2007 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament Oct. 6 at Pebble Creek Golf Course In Becker, Minn.
