Mar. 28, 2008

BEMIDJI, Minn.
-- The Bemidji State University men's and women's golf teams will have to wait to tee off on the 2008 spring golf season as a pair of events schedule for the Mar. 28-31 have been cancelled due to snow-covered soggy courses.

Augustana College scrapped the Auggie Invitational slated for Friday and Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D. and today University of South Dakota cancelled its Sunday-Monday USD Invitational set for Vermilion, S.D.

According to BSU head women's golf coach Krissi Super and head men's golf coach Don Niskanen, both are actively looking to replace the lost events but nothing has been made official at the time of this release.

The cancellations delay the start of the 2008 season two weeks. Next the women's squad heads to Yankton, S.D. to participate in the second half of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships (April 12-13) and the men's team is set travel to Lake City, Minn. to compete in Concordia University-St. Paul's Spring Invitational (April. 14-15).
