GRAND FORKS, N.D. --Derek Harris (Jr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) carded a three-over-par 75 earn medallist honors while the Bemidji State University men's golf team captured a victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston Tuesday in duel competition at the par-72, 6,437-yard Grand Forks Country Club in Grand Forks, N.D.

Although Harris turned in he best scorecard of the day, he entered the event as an individual and did not contribute to the BSU victory over the Golden Eagles.

Jim Foss (Fr., Roseau, Minn.) fired a five-over par 77 to match UMC's Steven Busho for second place overall and to pace the Beavers to an 18-hole, team total of 314 (+26) to edge hosting Golden Eagles (326) by 12 shots.

In addition to Foss, Mitch Mackedanz (Jr., Paynesville, Minn.) and Clint Cornell (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) tied for fourth place with 78 (+6) while Neil Rude (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) was three shots back in eighth with 81 (+9). Josh Dale's (So., Pequot Lakes, Minn.) 83 accounted for the Beavers fifth score in the event.

The Beavers and Golden Eagles will match skills again tomorrow with another 18-hole, team duel. The event is set to take place at the Grand Forks Country Club.
