WASECA, Minn. (Lakeside Country Club) - The Bemidji State University women's golf team completed play at the Maverick Invitational Sunday. The Beavers posted a two-day total of 854 (+270) to finish sixth at the par-73, 5,839 Lakeside Country Club in Waseca, Minn.

The BSU squad shaved 18 strokes from its day one total, but was unable to catch Missouri Western State University (747/+163) which took fifth place in the team competition.

Individually, Jenna Schurman (Jr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) posted BSU's best day two mark with an 88 (+15), but it was Marissa Mackedanz (So., Paynesville, Minn.) that turned in the Beavers' best tournament carding a 96-92--188 (+42) to place 30th.

Minnesota State University took two of its four team scores from the top two spots on the leader board. Trisha Shill captured medallist honors recording a 36-hole total of 79-80--159 (+13) to lead all players, while teammate Jaymie Halverson fired a final-round-low 76 (+3) to bounce back from a day-one 90 (+17) and claim second place overall with a 166 (+20). The duo paced the hosting Mavericks to the team title with a 663 (+79) and a 26-shot advantage over the rest of the field.

Truman State University slide past Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foe Winona State University and into second place on day two, erasing a three-shot WSU advantage after 18 holes with a 334 (+42) Sunday. TSU finished the invitational with a team total of 689 (+105), while the Warriors finished in third with a 697 (+113). Southwest Minnesota State University rounded out the field in fourth with 728 (+144).

The Beavers continue their spring road swing tomorrow as they travel to Grand Forks, N.D. to participate in the University of Minnesota, Crookston Open. The two-day event is set for the Grand Forks Country Club.
