Bemidji State leads after first round of BSU Invitational
Three Beavers complete opening round under par

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Bemidji Town and Country Club) -- The Bemidji State University men’s golf team heads into the final round of the 60th Annual BSU Invitational with the lead after a two-under par 268 Sunday at the par 72, 6,535-yard Bemidji Town and Country Club.

The Beavers hold a one stroke lead over the University of Manitoba, which posted a 287 (-1) to finish as the only other team to post a score under par in the opening round.

Freshman Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.) continued on his torrid pace to lead the Beavers firing a 70 (-2) to finish tied for fifth place individually after 18 holes. Jim Foss (Jr., Roseau, Minn.) and Jesse Nelson (So., Pine River, Minn.) rounded out a group of 11 participants that enter the second day of competition with scores under par as each carded a one-under 71.

St. Cloud State University’s Billy Barnhart and Charlie West sit atop the leader board after shooting matching 68 (-4) in the first round.

The 36-hole, 15-team event will conclude Monday. A shotgun start is set for 8:30 a.m. at the Bemidji

Town and Country Club.
