Apr. 28, 2009 - Bemidji State's WCHA bid on hold
Bruce McLeod, commissioner of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, announced today that the association has declined to vote on Bemidji State’s application for membership on behalf of its NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey program. The WCHA will remain at 10 teams but will immediately and indefinitely lift its moratorium on expansion in the hopes of seeking a potential partner for Bemidji State, which would bring the association’s membership to 12. McLeod indicated a 12-team league as the association’s preference as it looks toward future.

Bemidji State got a goal and an assist from sophomore Matt Read (Ilderton, Ontario) and Matt Dalton (So., G, Clinton, Ontario) posted 33 saves as the Beavers defeated No. 15 St. Cloud State to open the home portion of its season Saturday at the john Glas Fieldhouse. The win was the first of the season for the Beavers and marked the first over SCSU since Dec. 6, 1986.

Oct. 22, 2008 - Beavers open home slate with St. Cloud State
The Bemidji State men’s hockey team hosts intrastate rival St. Cloud State University in its 2008-09 home-opener this weekend. Although the Beavers are in search of their first victory of the young season, they are not the only team desperately seeking a win. The Huskies come to the Glas after seeing two games slip through their hands last weekend. The non-conference series gets underway at 7:35 p.m. Friday night, and the puck will drop at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in the final game of the two-game set.

It was business as usual in Mankato, Minn. Saturday at Alltel Center. The Bemidji State men's hockey team used good team defense, solid goaltending, and 60 minutes of tenacity to put itself in position for a victory versus Minnesota State University, Mankato, but the Beavers ran out of time and the Mavericks netted an empty-net goal in the final minute to take the game 4-2 and sweep the series.

For the second consecutive week and just the fourth time since the team made the jump to the NCAA Division I level, the Bemidji State men’s hockey team has swept the CHA weekly Player of the Week awards. The league office today announced that, Travis Winter (Jr., C, St. Cloud, Minn.) has been selected Offensive Player of the Week, Davis Deterding (Sr., D, Alexandria, Minn.) earned defensive Player of the Week laurels and for the third time this season and the second consecutive week, Matt Read (Fr., F, Ilderton, Ontario) is the recipient of the Rookie of the Week award.

Dec. 8, 2007 - Defense shines in 2-0 victory over Chargers
Bemidji State goaltender Matt Climie (Sr., Leduc, Alberta) may have faced just 12 shots Saturday at the John Glas Fieldhouse, but a shutout is a shutout and Climie’s 12 saves helped the Beavers garner a 2-0 victory over Alabama-Huntsville to compete their first CHA series sweep of the season. The blanking of the UAH also helped the senior solidify himself among some of the greatest to man the nets at Bemidji State as he surpassed both Jim Scanlon (1978-82) and Blane Comstock (1967-71) to sit alone atop the BSU career shutouts list with 10.

The Beavers are back among the top teams in the nation according to the most recent U.S. College Hockey Online/CSTV poll. BSU garnered nine points, ranking it fourth among the group of “others receiving votes” in the publication’s ranking of the nation’s top 20 NCAA Division I men’s hockey programs. The Bemidji State University men's ice hockey team earned a 2-2 tie with College Hockey America foe Niagara University Saturday at Dwyer Arena in Niagara, N.Y. in a well-played, pure hockey game. The Beavers rode the strength of their penalty kill and a hot goaltender through regulation and overtime to earn the tie on the Purple Eagles' home ice and skate out of Niagara with three crucial points for the league standings.

Previous to tonight, it had been nearly eight months since the Niagara University Purple Eagles had been defeated on their home ice of Dwyer Arena.
