Chris Nathe, Morod Radmacher to join
Beavers for 2003-04

head men’s ice hockey coach Tom Serratore
today announced the signing of defenseman Chris Nathe and
forward Morod Radmacher to early-period national letters
of intent. The duo will join the Bemidji State program for
2003-04.

Chris Nathe (D, 5-11, 175; Elk River, Minn.; born Oct. 21,
1982) will join the Beavers after a two-year career
with the United States Hockey League’s Tri-City Storm.
After 14 games this season, Nathe has scored 3-6=9 points,
fifth on the team and tops amongst defensemen, with a pair
of power-play goals. In 2001-02, Nathe finished amongst the
Storm’s top 10 in scoring and was second amongst defensemen
with 8-15=23 points and tied for the team lead with four game-winning
goals.
Nathe will bring a Minnesota hockey bloodline to BSU, having
helped lead Elk River (Minn.) High School to the 2001 Class
AA State Championship. Nathe scored four points in the state
tournament, including a 1-2=3 point effort in Elk River’s
4-3 semifinal win over Hastings. Nathe earned All-Tournament
Team honors for his efforts. Nathe also represented Team Minnesota
at the National Chicago High School Hockey Tournament. Nathe
earned Third-Team All-Metro and Honorable-Mention All-State
honors as well, and was a three-time letterwinner and honorable-mention
All-Conference pick in soccer.
BSU coaches on Nathe: “Chris is a
skilled offensive-minded defenseman with great hands and excellent
vision on the ice. He makes plays all over the ice, especially
on the offensive blue line. He will be another power-play
specialist for us.”

Morod Radmacher (F, 5-10, 175; Calgary, Alberta; born July
26, 1983) will join former Olds Grizzlies teammate
and current BSU first-line left winger Ryan Huddy with the
Beavers next fall. Radmacher, currently with the USHL’s
Sioux Falls Stampede, has appeared in 14 games for the Stampede
and is second on the team and fifth in the USHL with 8-12=20
points. Radmacher earned USHL Offensive Player of the Week
honors for the week of Oct. 21, 2002 after leading the team
to a pair of wins with a 2-4=6 point effort over the three-game
weekend.
Radmacher shared a spot on the 2002 Alberta Junior Hockey
League Top Prospects team with Huddy while playing with the
Grizzlies, and was also named to the 2001 Top Prospects team.
The Top Prospects team recognizes 17-19-year-old players who
have not yet committed to NCAA institutions.
BSU coaches on Radmacher: “Morod
is a skilled forward who skates well and has the ability to
make plays. He is a proven goal-scorer and will be a very
effective power-play player.”
Bemidji State enters a key College Hockey America series
with the Wayne State Warriors sitting atop the CHA standings
at 1-2-5 overall and 1-0-1 (three points) in league play.
Opening face-off for Game 1 of the Wayne State series is scheduled
for 7:35 p.m. Central time at the John S. Glas Fieldhouse.
