March 12, 2008

DETROIT
- Cody Bostock (Jr., Salmon Arm, British Columbia), Matt Climie (Sr., G, Leduc Alberta) and Travis Winter (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) of the Bemidji State University men's ice hockey team were announced as members of the 2008 All-College Hockey America Team in a release by the league office today. League coaches voted Bostock to the first team while Climie and Winter were each selected to the second team.

The trio of BSU All-CHA selections marked the seventh consecutive season that Bemidji State has been represented by multiple student-athletes to the all-conference team.

A first-time All-CHA pick, Bostock anchored a BSU defensive corps that capped the 2007-08 regular-season ranked ninth in the country in goals allowed per game (2.29) and held conference foes to a CHA 20-game schedule record low 39 goals in conference play all while posting a +2 plus/minus ranking. He finished the regular season with 6-11=17 points in 33 games to lead all BSU blue liners and ranked sixth among his teammates in scoring. His 5-9=14 points in CHA play tied him for third on the league defensemen scoring charts. The junior developed a knack for scoring big goals. Of his six lamplighters, he matched Winter with a team-high three game-winners. He also ranked first among league scorers notching all three difference makers during CHA play.

Bostock was a CHA Defensive Player of the Week selection Nov. 19 after potting two points, including his first collegiate game-winning goal, in the weekend series at Wayne State. He used the two-point series to kick-start one of two three-game scoring strands during the season adding a goal and an assist in his next appearance at Niagara. He also piled up four multi-point games recording his first collegiate multi-goal contest in a 4-0 victory at Alabama-Huntsville Jan. 11.

Bostock was joined by Wayne State's Jeff Caister and Ryan Annesley of Niagara on the first team blue line while Wayne State's Stavros Paskaris, Niagara's Vince Rocco and Ryan Cruthers of Niagara occupied forward positions and NU goaltender Juliano Pagliero rounded out the first team.

Cruthers and Rocco were unanimous selections to the first team.

The selection of Climie and Winter to the All-CHA Second Team marked the first time a BSU player has occupied a spot on the team since Brendan Cook was voted to the second team in 2005.

Climie finished the 2007-08 regular season with a 2.17 goals against average, a 915 save percentage and an overall record of 13-7-3 and a BSU single-season record of five shutouts. In addition to backstopping a defense that led the league (1.95) and ranked ninth in all of NCAA Division I in goals allowed per game, he was also a vital cog to a Bemidji State penalty-kill unit that set a new BSU (.870) standards for efficiency and ranks second all-time in CHA play (.918).

In league play, the senior posted a CHA-best 1.78 goals against average and 7.50 winning percentage (12-3-3) while finishing second in save percentage with a .927 while ranking second with 1111:49 logged between the pipes.

Climie was a three-time CHA Defensive Player of the Week pick earning the award Nov. 5, Nov. 12 and Dec. 3. The Nov. 5 laurel came on the heels of a 31-save, 3-0 shutout of Niagara--the eighth shutout of Climie's career. He won the award again a week later after turning away 36 Wayne State shots for his second shutout in as many outings. His third honor of the campaign came on Dec. 3 after saving 53-of-56 Niagara shots (.946) to propel BSU to a three-point weekend. The 5-1 BSU victory in game one of the series ending the Purple Eagles' 22-game winning streak at Dwyer Arena.

He was also named as the INCH National Player of the Week Jan. 15 for his role in a series sweep at Ala.-Huntsville. He turned away 54-of-55 shots (.981) on the weekend, extending his school-record shutouts mark to 11 with a 23-save 4-0 win in game one while stopping 31 shots in a 7-1 victory to wrap the series. Friday's victory moved Climie into a tie with Grady Hunt for BSU's Division I-era record for wins with 39. He surpassed Hunt the following night.

The All-CHA selection is the third for Climie. He garnered first team honors a year ago and was named to the All-Rookie team in 2005. Prior to the 2005-06 season, he also became the first sophomore to be named CHA Preseason Player of the Year.

Winter posted 9-12=21 points to finish fifth on the team in scoring while his three game-winners matched Bostock's team leading mark. As one of five BSU players to step on the ice for every on of BSU's 34 contests, he capped the season with a +10 plus/minus rating.

The junior posted three multi-point games on the season with his 2-1=3 points in a 7-2 victory at Robert Morris standing as the third two-goal game of his career and the best scoring night of his season.

Winter was a two-time recipient of the CHA Offensive Player of the Week in 2007-08. He was the league's pick Nov. 12 after netting a pair of goals and an assist in a three-point weekend at Ala.-Huntsville. In the series opener, he had a hand in each of the Beavers two goals, including netting the game-winner. His good fortune versus the Chargers continued during a December trip to Alabama as he posted a pair of assists in the Dec. 8, 4-1 victory and potted the game-winner in a 2-0 shutout Dec. 9. For his efforts, he was awarded with his second league honor Dec. 10.

Winter makes his second consecutive appearance on the All-CHA squad. The junior's second team selection this season follows a 2007 first team award last winter.

Winter was joined as a second team forward by Niagara's Matt Caruana and Chris Margott of Robert Morris. Climie was accompanied as defensive second teamer by Niagara defenseman Tyler Gotto.

Bemidji State finished its 2007-08 regular season with a record of 16-15-3 and captured its third College Hockey America regular-season title with a mark of 13-4-3 in the league. The Beavers open play as the No. 1 seed at the 2008 CHA Tournament on Saturday, March 15 when they face off with the winner of the tournament's quarterfinal game between Wayne State and Ala.-Huntsville. BSU's semifinal match up is set for 1 p.m. Central time at Dwyer Arena in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
