Made collegiate debut Dec. 3 vs Niagara... Was in the lineup for each of BSU’s final six games... Scored first collegiate point with a power-play goal in BSU’s 2-1 loss to then-No. 9 North Dakota, 12/16... 1-1=2 points, first career multi-point game vs Wayne State (1/14)... 1-1=2 points at Western Michigan (2/10)... Assist vs Ala.-Huntsville in CHA Semifinals (3/11).
Prior to BSU
Allen was recruited by BSU while playing with fellow fall-period signee Mark Soares on the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League. He was later traded to the Victoria Salsa of the BCHL.
Prior to being dealt, Allen spent three years with Coquitlam. During his tenure, he improved his scoring totals each year from 29 points in 2001-02 to 61 points in 2003-04. He scored 7-22=29 points in 59 games during his rookie campaign in 2001-02, earning Express Most-Improved Player honors following the season. He played 56 games in 2002-03, improving his scoring total to 26-33=59 points in 56 regular-season games and adding 5-6=11 points in seven playoff games. In 2003-04, Allen piled up 17-44=61 points, setting career highs for assists and points scored, in 59 games played. he added 1-5=6 points for the Express in seven playoff games.
Prior to being traded to Victoria on Nov. 12, Allen had scored 10-15=25 points in 23 games played. He had nine multi-point games, including five in a six-game span from Sept. 26-Oct. 8.
