Had a breakout sophomore season for the Beavers finishing the campaign matching Rob Sirianni for the team lead with 12-17=29 points... His 12 goals was second only to Luke Erickson’s 13 while his 17 assist ranked him second to Sirianni... Led all Beavers with 2-12=14 points in league play... Finished among the CHA’s top six players with six power-play goals, short-handed points (2-1=3) and short-handed goals (2)... His two short-handed goals were good enough for 24th in all of NCAA Division hockey... Logged time in all 33 games.
Was in on the scoring of just one goal during the Beavers’ first four games notching an assist in the first contest of the series at Niagara (10/27)... But by the time BSU had 10 games in the books, he had accounted for 10 points... Rolled up a six-game scoring streak beginning with a one-goal, one-assist night in a 4-3 victory over Minnesota State (11/3) and extending through the final game of the Niagara series (11/18)... During the stretch he posted 3-6=9 points. In just the third multi-point game of his career, netted 1-2=3 points to help BSU to a come-for-behind overtime thriller at Minnesota Duluth (12/9)... Finished the UMD home-and-home series scoring 2-2=4 points and was +2. Recorded career-high 2-3=5 points in a 7-5 victory over Wayne State (Mich.) including the game-winner. Opened play in February with a series at Ala.-Huntsville in which he recorded 1-3=4 points posting a goal and a pair of assists in the series opening 5-5 tie and following it with an assist the following night.
Although he netted just one goal in a six-game stretch from Feb. 9th to Feb 24th, he finished the season with a bang, scoring two goals in BSU’s 7-5 loss to Robert Morris in the 2007 CHA Tournament Semifinal game.
Finished the season with seven multi-point games.
2005-06 (Freshman)
Played in 13 of BSU’s first 21 games, including Game 2 of BSU’s first nine series of the season, but played in just three games after Jan. 14.
Made collegiate debut in Game 2 of Minn.-Duluth series (10/8); one shot on net, +1... Goal, first collegiate point vs Minnesota State (10/15)... Assist in each game of North Dakota series (12/16-17); first assists of collegiate career... Two assists vs Clarkson (12/30) ran scoring streak to three games.
Prior to BSU
Travis Winter finished his second season in the United States Hockey League as the second-leading scorer for the Indiana Ice in 2004-05. He scored 21-21=42 points, and was also second on the team in goals scored as one of just two 20-goal scorers for the Ice this past season. Winter also led the Ice and tied for 10th in the USHL with nine power-play goals. In 2003-04, Winter scored 10-13=23 points in 59 games when the Ice were still the Danville Wings. He had one power-play goal and was +6.
He scored 19-45=64 points for St. Cloud Tech High School in 2002-03, capping a brilliant four-year career which saw him earn four varsity letters and be named All-Conference three times, All-Area twice and All-Area Player of the Year in 2003.
Winter will be just the second native of St. Cloud, Minn. ever to join the BSU program. The only other St. Cloud native to appear on a BSU roster was Mark Larson in 1992.
