BEMIDJI, Minn. (BSU Gymnasium) -- Led by a 13-point, 11-rebound effort from John Smith, the No. 1 Winona State University extended its winning streak to 38 games with a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Bemidji State Friday at the BSU Gymnasium.

The Warriors were a display of efficiency hitting 30-of-47 (63.8) field goal attempts, 10-of-18 (.556) from beyond the arc and posted 20 assists on 30 baskets.

In addition to Smith's double-double, three other players recorded double digit scoring totals and 11 players got in the scoring column.

Zach Malvik netted 12 while Travis Whipple and David Johnson each scored 11, posted matching 4-of-6 performances form the floor and were 3-of-4 form three-point land. Jonte Flowers led all players with six assists.

Bemidji State got a career-high 10 points out of freshman guard Seth Haake (Eden Prairie, Minn.) the mid-season transfer was 4-of-8 form the floor and hit 1-of-2 from beyond the arc. Dan Sowu (Sr., G, Chicago, Ill.) and Jermon Marsh (So., G, Savannah, Ga.) added seven and six points respectively as each grabbed a four rebounds to pace the team on the glass.

The opening minutes of the game were all WSU.

The defending NCAA Division II National Champions scored 13 points before BSU could get a shot to fall.

Shooting an astounding 69.2 percent (18-26) from the field during the first 20 minutes, the Warriors would extend their lead to 30 points, 48-18, by the time the halftime horn sounded.

WSU came out of the break picking up right where it left off netting the first six point of the half and despite back-to-back three-pointers by Sowu and Brandon Fields (Fr., PG, Los Angeles, Calif.) that would temporarily generate some momentum for the Beavers, the Warriors were just too much for the Beavers on this night and powered through to an 82-37 victory.

The Beavers now trail WSU 75-66 in the all-time series and have dropped the last two meetings to the Warriors.

Bemidji State (1-16; 1-7 NSIC) will be back in action tomorrow when it meets one of the NSIC's newest members Upper Iowa University (3-14; 2-6 NSIC) in a 8 p.m. match-up at the BSU Gymnasium.
