With the crisp hints of frigid weather
in the air and a recent dusting of snow on the ground
it is inevitable that winter is moving in on Northern
Minnesota. But the coldest months of the year also bring
with them indoor sports and the Bemidji State University
men's and women's basketball teams are taking the signs
of winter as a green light to begin training for their
upcoming seasons. Sunday, both teams will open the doors
of the BSU Gymnasium for their first organized team practices
in preparation for the 2006-07 season.

State University head men’s basketball coach Matt
Bowen has named Jeremy Tiers
as an assistant coach for the 2006-07 season. Tiers comes
to BSU after spending the past two seasons as an assistant
coach and recruiting coordinator at Hamline University
in St. Paul, Minn.

Goeb today announced the hiring of Matthew
Bowen as head men’s basketball coach. Bowen
becomes the 19th head coach in the 84-year history of
the program. Bowen comes to BSU after 14 year of assistant
coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level.

that the department will host a pair open houses this
week providing the general public an opportunity to meet

that there has been a change in the schedule for the Spring
Youth Basketball Academy. Instead of beginning on April
3, the first session has been pushed back to April 24
from 6-9 p.m. Following session will take place April

Regional Poll, released by the organization today. The
