FARGO, N.D. - The Bemidji State University soccer team traveled
to Fargo, N.D. today for a non-conference match-up with North
Dakota State University. The Beaver’s Lindsey Natwick
found the net, but the Bison would be too much as they added
four goals of their own to beat BSU 4-1.
NDSU got on the board first when Jessica Rodgers stole the
ball from a BSU player and found the back of the net. But
the Beavers would rally. Just 29 seconds later, at the 14:37
mark, Lindsey Natwick would score an unassisted goal to tie
the game 1-1. That is the way the first half would end.
In the second half, the Bison would pour it on, out shooting
the Beavers 8-0 and scoring three goals.
Just over than three minutes into the half (48:16), NDSU would
take the led, 2-1, when Carly Christensen used the give-and-go
from Kelly Gilbertson to beat the Beavers, Niki Dalka. Christensen
would add another goal in the 54th minute to give the Bison
a two-goal lead. She was assisted on the play by Amy Masterson.
At 77:06 NDSU would again score when Amanda Klaman scored
her first goal of the season off the pass from Kim Grettum.
The goal would give the Bison a three-goal lead at 4-1 and
that is the way it would stay giving North Dakota State the
win.
In the game BSU goaltender Niki Dalka recorded 10 saves. Adding
that total to the other 15 games this season Dalka has 186
saves this season. That total ranks only behind her 2001 total
of 236. In three years at Bemidji State Dalka has amassed
a total of 604 career saves. The total is tops in the BSU
record books and places her solidly in fifth place among all
NCAA Division II goaltenders.
The goal for Natwick was her team-leading tenth of the season
and put her in third place among all BSU players for goals
in a season. She also added six assists this season which
is tied for the best assist total in a season by a BSU player.
She is accompanied by Lauren Miller’s total from 1999
at the top of the list.
The Beavers end the season 4-12 and were 1-9 in NSIC competition
under first-year coach Jim Stone. With four wins this season,
Stone is tied with Jeff Mitchell’s squads of 2000 and
2001 for the most wins in a season by a Bemidji State women’s
soccer team.
