BEMIDJI MINN. -- Freshman goalkeeper Kari Torgerson recorded her fourth shutout of the season, tying Niki Dalka’s season mark in 2000, in leading Bemidji State (3-9-1) over the Hamline PIpers (3-9-0), 3-1, this afternoon at the BSU Soccer Complex.

“ We knocked around the ball real well today,” said head coach Jim Stone. “We held good possession and recorded a couple goals like we needed to. We are looking forward to a good game tomorrow against MSU-Moorhead.”

On the afternoon, Torgerson played into the 67th minute, posting two saves as she gave way to freshman Jacque Wagner for the final 22+ minutes.

The Beavers lit up the scoreboard early thanks to freshman Traci Ringgenberg’s tally at the 10:09 mark. Her first career goal was helped by sophomore Lindsey Natwick and freshman Whitney Sengthao. Ringgenberg, who is the first BSU player this season to have multiple goals in the same game, snuck one past Hamline goaltender, Melissa Cherry, in the 62nd minute. Sengthao added her second assist on the play. Just 2:06 later, Natwick recorded her team-leading eighth point on the season with a goal. Freshman Diane Kalin was awarded an assist, her team-high fourth of the season.

BSU dominated offensively, totaling 28 shots to just five by Hamline. The three Bemidji State goals is a season-high.

Cherry saved 17 Beaver shots in the contest.

Bemidji State welcomes the Dragons of Minnesota State-Moorhead for a 1:00 p.m. match tomorrow.
