BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University
soccer team is set to kick off its ninth season of competition
with a quick look at its past as the Beavers hosts their inaugural
Alumni game. The August 20th exhibition pits the current BSU
roster versus its predecessors.
The BSU offensive attack will be tested as the Beavers' all-time
leader in saves, Niki Dalka, is slated to make an appearance
between the pipes. With 542 career saves, Dalka currently
ranks 13th in the NCAA Division II record books and still
holds BSU records for saves in a game (36), season (236) and
career (542). Joining Dalka on the Alumni team will be Leigh
Nelson, Kim Strom, Jennifer Hutchinson, Jessica Bina and Stacey
Montgomery.
In addition to catching up with your favorite soccer alum,
the game will provide the first opportunity to catch a glimpse
of BSU's new freshman class in action.
The game is scheduled for at 12:00 p.m at the BSU Soccer
Field.
Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
If you are an alum of the BSU soccer program and are interested
in breaking out the old spikes and shin guards, call head
coach Jim Stone at (218) 755- 2773 for more information.
The Beavers are coming off the most successful season in
program history. The team went 11-12-0 overall, 3-4 in Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference play and advanced to the NSIC
Tournament semifinals for the first time before bowing out
to the eventual champion Winona State University.
