Beavers chop down Dragons 2-0
BSU rides two first half goals to victory

Sept. 17, 2005

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University soccer team picked up their second conference win of the season at Minnesota State-Moorhead riding two first half goals to a 2-0 shutout of the Dragons.

The Beaver attack found the back of the net two times in the first half, starting with a goal in the 11th minute from defender Tegan Moehn (Jr.; Ramsey, Minn.). Moehn's second goal of the season was assisted by senior forward Lindsey Natwick (Bismarck, N.D.). Natwick's second assist of the year added to her BSU career record total which now stands at 19.

BSU struck again at the 34-minute mark of the half as Jessica Ploeger (So.; Ramsey, Minn.) slipped the ball past MSUM goalie Hila Anderson. Ploeger's third goal of the season ties her for the team goal-scoring lead with freshman Kelly Hyvare (Coon Rapids, Minn.).

BSU's defense stayed strong throughout the game only allowing two Dragon shots on goal.

The Beavers moved to 2-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and 4-2-2 on the season.

The Beavers are back in action tomorrow for the final game of a six-match road trip. They travel to Northern State to take on the Wolves in an NSIC matchup. BSU's last victory over Northern State came in a 1-0 overtime victory in Bemidji, Minn. on October 4, 2003.
