BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State soccer coach Jim Stone announced today that the first game of the 2008 spring schedule was canceled due to inclement weather.
BSU was scheduled to play the Woodbury U-17 Premier team April 13 at 10 a.m. at BSU Soccer Field. The field, however, is currently covered with snow and is not fit for play.
BSU’s 24-practice schedule began March 24 and runs through May 1. The now two-game schedule will be played April 19-20 against NMU and Woodbury U-15 in Duluth, Minn. Those games are slated for 5 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. start times, respectively.
After completing a 9-9-3 season (5-3-1 NSIC) and signing 10 players to National Letters of Intent in the offseason, Stone’s squad is building for next fall after losing eight players, including former All-NSIC selections Megan Wallner and Christina Hicks.
The 2008 Beavers will be led by three returning seniors and the top five leading scorers from last year.
BSU’s practices will run from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
