May 3, 2008 - Beavers eliminated in first day of NSIC Tourney
BSU nearly upset No. 1-seeded and No. 8-ranked Southwest Minnesota State University in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament Saturday in Marshall, Minn., but saw its season come to an end after it fell to the Mustangs and the University of Mary. The Beavers lost a close 2-1 game against SMSU before being upended 6-3 by the Marauders in the second round of the double-elimination tournament.

May 3, 2008 - Johnson named NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention
Junior infielder Mara Johnson (Bemidji, Minn.) earned her second postseason honor as she was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference office announced Friday.

Apr. 30, 2008 - NSIC women’s softball tournament pushed back
NSIC Commissioner Butch Raymond has announced that the 2008 NSIC Women’s Softball Tournament has been pushed back a day due to poor weather predictions. The tournament, being hosted by Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn., has been changed from Friday/Saturday to Saturday/Sunday as fairer weather conditions are predicted for those days.

Apr. 29, 2008 - Two one-run W's over NSU vault Beavers into postseason
BSU swept Northern State University Tuesday at Moccasin Creek Field. The two wins on the final day of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play leap-frogged BSU over NSU and into the eighth and final spot for the NSIC Softball Tournament.

Apr. 27, 2008 - Lone home series moved to Northern State
Bemidji State today announced that the lone home game of the season with Northern State University has been moved to Aberdeen, S.D.

Apr. 24, 2008 - Beavers push back lone home series with Wolves
BSU was scheduled to play its lone home series of the season against Northern State University in a doubleheader April 25, but a pesky weather forecast that calls for rampant precipitation that includes a mixture of rain and snow is pushing back the series, the team announced today.

Apr. 23, 2008 - Close call, but two losses for Bemidji State

BSU gave up a late rally to Minnesota State University Moorhead, and dropped both games of a doubleheader with the Dragons Wednesday evening at Alex Nemzek Field. The Beavers (4-21, 2-14 NSIC) lost the first game 4-3, and found little offense in a 4-1 loss in the second game.

Apr. 22, 2008 - Beavers split with high-powered Huskies

Bemidji State went into Historic Selke Field and took one game of a doubleheader against the St. Cloud State Huskies Tuesday afternoon. The Beavers (4-19, 2-12 NSIC) defeated SCSU (32-15) in the first game by a score of 4-1 before falling in the nightcap 15-0.

Apr. 20, 2008 - Cold bats in Bismarck

Bemidji State had a combined five hits in two losing efforts against Winona State University and No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State University Sunday afternoon in Day 2 of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Crossover. The Beavers dropped the first game of the day to the Warriors, 12-0, followed by a 4-0 loss to the Mustangs.

Apr. 19, 2008 - Beavers swept in Day 1 of U-Mary Crossover

BSU came into the first day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference crossover at the University of Mary riding a two-game win streak, but couldn’t continue its recent momentum. The Beavers dropped all three games Saturday, losing to the University of Upper Iowa 3-1, Wayne State College 8-5 and the University of Concordia-St. Paul 5-0.

Apr. 17, 2008 - BSU pitcher throws no-hitter as Beavers sweep Minnesota, Crookston

Kristin Paine (Sr., Chisholm, Minn.) threw her first-career no-hitter to lead BSU to a two-game sweep over the University of Minnesota, Crookston Thursday at the UMC Softball Field. Paine had her best outing of the season, going five strong innings while allowing no runs in her fourth complete game of the season. She struck out two and walked two to move to 1-7 on the season.

Apr. 16, 2008 - North Dakota still not kind to BSU
Bemidji State had to reschedule a home doubleheader to be played at the University of Mary due to unfit playing conditions in Bemidji, and that lack of the home-field advantage cost the Beavers as they dropped two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups with the Marauders today at Brad Walsh Park.

Apr. 11, 2008 - Beavers cancel, reschedule games
The snowy conditions around the Bemidji area has postponed softball play for at least the next week, the team has announced. BSU was scheduled to travel to Gran d Forks, N.D., today to take on the University of North Dakota, and the Beavers were to take a trip to Bismarck, N.D., April 12 for a doubleheader with the University of Mary.

Apr. 10, 2008 - BSU drops two in North Dakota
BSU lost both games of a doubleheader Thursday against Mayville State. The Beavers dropped the first game by a score of 8-6, and the offense was stagnant in Game Two as BSU fell 9-1.

Apr. 6, 2008 - Mustangs and Peacocks too much for Bemidji State

BSU wrapped up its first NSIC crossover with two losses to Southwest Minnesota State University and Upper Iowa University. Both games were played at Pete Chapman Complex, home of Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. The first game was a 9-4 loss to the Mustangs, and then the Beavers fell 7-0 to the Peacocks.

Apr. 5, 2008 - Beavers drop all three contests during first round of NSIC Crossover

BSU played its first three games of conference play Saturday, dropping all three contests to open the first NSIC Crossover of the season. All three games were played at Pete Chapman Complex, home of Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb. The first game was an 11-4 loss to Winona State, next BSU fell 10-1 to Concordia-St. Paul, and then the Beavers dropped a close 6-4 contest to the host Wildcats.

Mar. 1, 2008 - Bemidji State 2008 softball prospectus
The Beavers have begun the season with a 1-4 record, and will play their next set of games Apr. 5-6 in the first NSIC Crossover of the season against Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul, Wayne State, Southwest Minnesota State and Upper Iowa. The first three games will be played on April 5 and will take place at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. The final two games begin at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on April 6. All five games will take place at Wayne State.

Feb. 24, 2008 - Upper Iowa steals victory from BSU in extra innings
BSU scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning, but Upper Iowa answered with two runs in the bottom of the extra frame to take the game 4-3 Sunday morning in the final day of the Husky Dome Tournament.

Feb. 23, 2008 - Beavers split first day of Husky Dome Tournament
Bemidji State used an offensive explosion to help split a two-game set with Dakota State University and the University of Wisconsin-Superior Saturday afternoon in the first day of the Husky Dome Tournament.

Feb. 22, 2008 - Rough start for Bemidji State
Brittany Bolstad (So., International Falls, Minn.) crossed the plate for the first run of the 2008 campaign for Bemidji State as the Beavers fell in both games of a double-header with St. Cloud State University by scores of 4-1 and 12-0. The games were played Friday night in the Husky Dome.

Feb. 14, 2008 - NSIC coaches pick Beavers to finish eighth in 2008
Bemidji State has been picked to finish eighth in the 2008 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coaches’ Poll, announced today by the league office. For the third straight season, BSU will be starting with a new head coach as Ron Koskie takes over the helm for the 2008 squad.

Bemidji State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb today announced the hiring of Ronald Koski as the new head softball coach for the upcoming season.

Aug. 21, 2007 - BSU inks deal with Internet broadcast web site
Bemidji State University Director of Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb has announced that for the first time in school history, soccer, women’s hockey, baseball and softball games will be broadcast on the Internet. A new web site, called Listen To The Beavers Dot Com, has launched for the fall season and it will be the Internet audio home of the Beavers.

May 15, 2007 - Johnson named Second Team All-Region
Sophomore infielder Mara Johnson (Bemidji, Minn.) was named to the Second Team of the North Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Monday afternoon. The 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Region Team is split into eight separate regions, the Great Lakes Region, Mid-Atlantic Region, North Central Region, Northeast Region, South Region, South Atlantic Region, South Central Region, and the West Region.

May 4, 2007 - Back-to-back near misses end BSU's season
Despite totaling more hits and fewer errors than its opponents in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament, the Bemidji State University softball team suffered consecutive one-run setbacks. The Beavers lost 7-6 to Winona State in the opening round, then a 1-0 pitcher's duel to Wayne State in the elimination round.

May 4, 2007 - BSU's Smith, Johnson named NSIC Honorable Mention
Sophomore infielders Bridget Smith (Burnsville, Minn.) and Mara Johnson (Bemidji, Minn.) were named All-Conference Honorable Mention as announced by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference office on Friday evening at its awards banquet which is held in conjunction with the 2006 NSIC Softball Championship in Marshall, Minn.

The Northern Sun Intecollegiate Conference office announced the pairings for this weekends’ NSIC Softball Tournament hosted by regular season co-champion Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. The Beavers will take on the other co-champion, Winona State, in the first round of the double elimination tournament.

May 1, 2007 - UND hands Beavers a pair of one-run losses
The Bemidji State University softball team was dealt a pair of late-inning, one-run losses against the University of North Dakota in its regular season finale on Tuesday evening. The Fighting Sioux scored a run in the seventh inning of the opener for a 3-2 win, and a run in the eighth inning of the nightcap for a 5-4 victory.

Apr. 28, 2007 - Beavers sweep rare non-conference meeting at Minnesota Crookston
On an afternoon that the Bemidji State University softball team belted four home runs to add to its single-season school record (19), the Beavers swept the University of Minnesota, Crookston in a rare non-conference twin bill, 11-6 and 14-2.

Apr. 27, 2007 - Wisconsin-Superior uses extra-inning run to salvage split with BSU
The Bemidji State University softball team split a non-conference double header with the University of Wisconsin-Superior Tuesday at the BSU Softball Field. After earning a 9-3 victory in game one, the Beavers were held to just one run in the night cap dropping the game in eight innings, 2-1, on a day in witch the team honored its parents and lone senior.

Apr. 24, 2007 - Mary (N.D.) hands BSU a pair of 9-1 losses
The Bemidji State University softball team was defeated 9-1 in each game of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader in Bismarck, N.D. BSU's offense was stifled both games and the defense was plagued by two errors in each game against the University of Mary.

Apr. 23, 2007 - BSU salvages a split at Northern State
Bemidji State’s Jamie Docken (Jr., OF, Owatonna, Minn.) hit a three-run homer in the first inning of each game on Monday afternoon against Northern State, but the Beavers were only able to come away with victory in the nightcap by a score of 13-5. BSU dropped the opener 6-3.

Apr. 22, 2007 - Beavers drop final three games of NSIC Crossover
The Bemidji State University softball team lost their last three games of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Crossover in Aberdeen, S.D. The Beavers finished up a holdover game from Saturday against Southwest Minnesota State, an 8-0 loss, then dropped games to Winona State, 5-3, and Upper Iowa, 10-5.

Apr. 21, 2007 - BSU endures tough day at NSIC Crossover
The Bemidji State University softball team was held to just one run in the two games completed at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Crossover in Aberdeen, S.D., on Saturday. The Beavers lost 4-0 to Concordia-St. Paul and 6-1 to Wayne State College before having their final game of the day postponed due to weather. A home run by Amy Klaers (So., INF, Elk River, Minn.) in the opener and another blast by Brittany Bolstad (Fr., OF, International Falls, Minn.) in the nightcap helped Bemidji State University's offense come alive and cruise to back-to-back wins, 7-3 and 11-3, over Minnesota, Crookston, on Thursday afternoon at the BSU Softball Field.

Apr. 18, 2007 - MSU-Moorhead shuts out BSU in doubleheader sweep
The Bemidji State University softball team’s offense was held in check by Minnesota State, Moorhead, pitchers in a doubleheader at the BSU Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers managed just six total hits off of Dragon pitching in the two-game sweep, losing by scores of 1-0 and 9-0.

Apr. 16, 2007 - BSU's late comeback falls short against St. Cloud State
The Bemidji State University softball team ran out of innings in a late comeback attempt against St. Cloud State on a rainy Monday afternoon at the BSU Softball Field. The Beavers dropped a 7-3 decision to the Huskies in the opening game of the scheduled doubleheader, but blustery conditions cancelled the nightcap.

Apr. 16, 2007 - Klaers selected NSIC Player of the Week
Sophomore third baseman Amy Klaers (Elk River, Minn.) was selected the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week for her performance in last weekend's games, as announced by the league office today. Klaers is the first softball player to receive the award for BSU since April 20, 1999.

Apr. 15, 2007 - Beavers split twinbill with Mary (N.D.)
Behind a solid start from pitcher Ali Willard (So., Hutchinson, Minn.) and clutch seventh-inning hits, the Bemidji State University softball team scratched out a split in a twinbill with the University of Mary (N.D.). The Beavers downed Mary in the opener by a score of 4-3, but the Marauder offense came alive to post a 10-0 shutout over BSU in the nightcap.

Apr. 14, 2007 - BSU sweeps UM-Morris 12-2, 15-1
The Bemidji State University softball team found its hitting groove on Saturday afternoon at the BSU Softball Field. The Beavers racked up 27 runs and 31 hits in a two-game sweep of the University of Minnesota, Morris. Bemidji State beat the Cougars 12-2 in the opener, and then sliced out a nine-run third inning in the nightcap for a 15-1 victory.

Apr. 12, 2007 - Veenker announces second softball signee of ‘2007
Bemidji State softball head coach Shane Veenker announced today the signing of Jamie Lund, a native of Grantsburg, Wis., to a National Letter of Intent. Lund is the second player to sign a National Letter of Intent to play softball at BSU next season.

Bemidji State softball head coach Shane Veenker announced today the signing of Big Lake, Minn., native Karissa Hendrickson to a National Letter of Intent. Hendrickson is the first to sign an NLI to play softball next season.

Apr. 10, 2007 - BSU drops back-to-back games at NSIC Crossover
The Bemidji State University softball team was unable to follow up last night’s victory with more of the same, dropping back-to-back games on Tuesday at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Crossover in St. Paul, Minn. BSU lost their first game of the day to Concordia-St. Paul, 10-2, before dropping the nightcap 8-1 to Upper Iowa University.

Apr. 9, 2007 - Beavers pick up first win of ‘2007
Sophomore Mara Johnson (INF, Bemidji, Minn.) hit a home run in each of Bemidji State University's three games on Monday at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Crossover in St. Paul, Minn., but the Beavers were able to win just once. The victory came in the nightcap, 3-1 over Wayne State, while BSU lost 3-2 to Winona State in the opener and 8-2 against Southwest Minnesota State.

Mar. 18, 2007 - BSU falls just short in final two at Emporia State Tournament
The Bemidji State University softball team finished up the Emporia State Tournament with back-to-back losses to Washburn and seventh-ranked Emporia State on Sunday in Emporia Kan. Washburn downed BSU 7-3, and ESU shut out the Beavers 4-0.

Mar. 17, 2007 - Beavers lose three at Emporia State Tournament
The Bemidji State University softball team lost three games on Saturday at the Emporia State Tournament in Emporia Kan. No. 22 Northwest Missouri State downed the Beavers 8-3, while Truman State and Missouri Western beat BSU by eight runs apiece, 11-3 and 12-4.

Feb. 19, 2007 - Veenker Added to Bemidji State Coaching Staff
Bemidji State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Rick Goeb today announced the hiring of Shane Veenker as the 14th head softball coach since the program started in 1981. Veenker will also serve as an assistant coach for the women’s hockey team.

Feb. 16, 2007 - BSU selected 9th in NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll
The Bemidji State University softball team has been picked to finish ninth in the 2007 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coaches’ Poll, announced by the league office. For the second straight season, BSU will be starting with a new head coach as former assistant Shane Veenker is taking the reins for the 2007 season.
