Bemidji State falls in NSIC finale to Winona State
Beavers overpowered by Warriors

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University tennis team dropped its final regular season Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match Wednesday to the Winona State University Warriors by a score of 9-0 in Winona, Minn.

Doubles play saw the Beavers unable to pick up a point.

The Beavers saw great play from the No. 4 and 5 singles positions. Julie Kaspner (Pierz, Minn.) went down one set to the Warriors’ Courtney Zinter losing the set 4-6. Kaspner came roaring back as she picked up the second set 6-3, causing a match tiebreaker. The tiebreaker saw Zinter edge out Kaspner 10-7 to pick up the point.

Amy Erickson (Roseau, Minn.) saw similar results at the No. 5 position against Holly Peltier. Erickson took the first set from Peltier 6-4. Peltier came back to take the point winning the second set 6-3 and the tiebreaker 10-6.

The Beavers’ record now stands at 2-12 (1-5; NSIC) with one regular season match remaining. Bemidji State will conclude their regular season on Monday when they travel to Grand Forks, N.D. to take on the Univesity of North Dakota Fighting Sioux at 1:30 p.m.
