BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State University
senior Martha Miltich (Cohasset, Minn.) took the top spot
in the Buffalo River Run hosted by Concordia-Moorhead today
with the time of 21:19.3, 40 seconds faster than her closest
competitor. But her finish was not enough to give the Beavers
the win as their next four athletes finished 16th, 17th, 18th
and 19th respectively for a third place finish in the team
event.
Miltich was followed by her teammates sophomore Janel Budenski
(New Ulm, Minn.) with a time of 24:58.9 and fellow senior
Jami Peterson crossed the finish line in a time of 25:15.7.
Senior Josie Muzquiz (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) ran a 25:42.9
race to take the 18th spot and teammate Dawn Holman (Big Falls,
Minn.) was the final Beaver to finish with a time of 25:48.0.
Concordia College took the team title as it followed Miltich
with the next five finishers. Liz Sorenson finished in a time
of 21:59.6 with less than 45 seconds separating her and CC’s
last athlete.
The Beavers will be action again Sept. 6 when they host the
Maple Ridge Run. The event will take place at the Maple Ridge
Golf Course in Bemidji.
