Duluth, Minn. - At the University of Minnesota Duluth Pine
Hall Invitational today, the Bemidji State University Beavers
were led by the 13th-place finish of freshman Christa
Pribula (E. Grand Forks, Minn.) to take fifth place
as a team with 132 points. Pribula finished with a pace of
24:27.1 in the 6K race.
Finishing behind Pribula was senior Martha Miltich
(Cohasset,Minn.) in 19th-place (24:49.2) and sophomore Dawn
Holman (Big Falls, Minn.), who took 49th with a time
of 27:04.3
The University of North Dakota’s Carolyn Orsua took
the crown in a time of 22:42 as UND came in first with 30
points.
The Beavers will travel to the Minnesota State Moorhead-North
Dakota State University invite on October 11.
“The first two runners ran very well, though there can
be some improvement,” said BSU Head Coach Craig
Hougen. “We were missing our third best runner,
Josie Muzquiz. The disappointing thing is we lost to St. Cloud
State (today) because last week we actually beat them. This
event was the first time we ran 6,000 meters, so it was a
little bit of a learning experience.”

BSU Head Coach Craig Hougen
Beginning his 14th-year as head coach of the cross country/track
and field squads at Bemidji State University is Craig Hougen.
A track state champion and notable track athlete at Bismarck
High School (N.D.), Hougen earned a bachelor’s degree
in physical education from Valley City State University (N.D.)
in 1977. He followed with a master’s degree in that
same field from BSU in 1979 while serving as a graduate assistant
for two years.
Hougen entered the coaching ranks as the head track and field
coach at Sheridan High School in Wyoming in 1979 and accepted
additional duties as assistant coach with the football and
basketball programs during his 10-year stay with Sheridan
athletics.
Craig, wife Ann, son Michael (18) and daughters Rebecca (15)
and Alison (12) reside in Bemidji.
