Moorhead, Minn. - This afternoon, the Bemidji State University
Beavers competed in the Minnesota State University-Moorhead
(MSUM) Invitational at the Ponderosa Golf Course. Pacing the
way for the Beavers was freshman Christa Pribula
(E. Grand Forks, Minn.), who took sixth-place with a time
of 19:43.98.
Following Pribula was sophomore Janell Rook
(Alexandria, Minn.) with a time of 20:52.62, finishing 15th-place
and senior Jami Peterson, (Crookston, Minn.)
who took 19th with a time of 21:40.04. Sophomore Janel
Budenski (New Ulm, Minn.) ended the afternoon with
a time of 22:06.73 and finished 21st overall and was followed
by senior Sarah Roley (Warren, Minn.) with
a time of 22:36.11. Sophomore Katie Dippel
(Davenport, Iowa) took 25th with a time of 24:33.51.
North Dakota State University’s Cortney Christensen
paced the entire pack with a first-place finish and a time
of 18:31.18.
No team scores were recorded in this event.
Next up for the Beavers is the Northern Sun Intercollegiate
Conference (NSIC) Championships, which is held in Bemidji
Oct. 26.

BSU Head Coach Craig Hougen
In the midst of his 14th-year as head coach of the cross country/track
and field squads at Bemidji State University is Craig Hougen.
A track state champion and notable track athlete at Bismarck
High School (N.D.), Hougen earned a bachelor’s degree
in physical education from Valley City State University (N.D.)
in 1977. He followed with a master’s degree in that
same field from BSU in 1979 while serving as a graduate assistant
for two years.
Hougen entered the coaching ranks as the head track and field
coach at Sheridan High School in Wyoming in 1979 and accepted
additional duties as assistant coach with the football and
basketball programs during his 10-year stay with Sheridan
athletics.
Craig, wife Ann, son Michael (18) and daughters Rebecca (15)
and Alison (12) reside in Bemidji.
