April 30, 2003

Fargo, N.D.
- Yesterday at the North Dakota State Invitational, Bemidji State senior Josie Muzquiz took sixth in the 800m and seventh in the 1,500m while sophomore Steve Schreiber, with a vault of 6’8 1/2”, was crowned champion in the high jump. Muzquiz ran the 800m in 2:38.73 and crossed the finish line in 5:21.99 for the 1,500m.

Muzquiz’s two top ten finishes are the first for her this season - she finished eighth in the 3,000Steeplechase and 11th in the 800m at the Cobber Outdoor Invite, April 22.

Schreiber has taken either first or second in the high jump for all five invites he has participated this spring season, including a BSU record 6’9 1/2” leap at the Duncan Invite (4/13). That jump gave him the championship as well as the title at the Carleton Invite (4/19). The Chisago Lakes, Minn. native has bettered 6’8” in three of his five efforts.
