BEMIDJI, Minn. [men's results] [women's results]
- After his record setting performance last weekend, junior
Adam Wilson (Forest Lake, Minn.) followed
up nicely with two first place finishes in the shot put (50-6
¾) and the weight throw (52-6 ¾), helping Bemidji
State’s men claim second place overall at the Cobber
Duals in Moorhead, Minn.
Following Wilson in the shot put were fellow teammates sophomore
RJ Gross (Jamestown, N.D.) and sophomore
Justin Cox (Princeton, Minn.) with second
and third place finishes with throws of 46-10 and 46-8 respectively.
Senior Travis Schwarz (Pine City, Minn.)
recorded the only other first place finish on the men’s
side in the high jump with a leap of 6-2.
The women also had success in the field events, led by senior
Erin Suhonen’s (Wright, Minn.) first
place toss of 42-8 ¾ in the weight throw, over two
feet further than the rest of the competition. Suhonen also
posted a sixth place finish in the shot put (34-2) for the
women’s team who finished in third place overall.
In other field events, the women notched in three more second
place finishes by freshman Ashley Spolarich
(Maple Lake, Minn.) in the triple jump (32-5), freshman Heather
Sjolie (Fergus Falls, Minn.) in the high jump (5-1),
and sophomore Linsey Bergeson (Trail, Minn.)
in the shot put (38 ¾).
On the track freshmen Terrel Phillips for
the men and Brianne Woinarowicz (Stephen,
Minn.) for the women had the best finishes with their second
place finishes. Phillips posted a time of 6.58 in the 55-meter
dash while Woinarowicz finished the 200-meter dash in 27.62.
Both he men’s and women’s team captured second
place finishes in both the 4x200-meter relay and the 4x400-meter
relay.
After running for a combination of 16:39.01, junior Christa
Pribula (East Grand Forks, Minn.) had herself a third-place
finish in the 1500-meter run (5:12.49) and a fourth-place
finish in the 3000-meter run (11:26.12).
Bemidji State will next be in action as they travel to both
the Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minn., and the Cobber
open in Moorhead, Minn., on Jan. 5.
