BEMIDJI, Minn. - Nearly 40 former Bemidji State University track and field athletes dusted off their running shoes last weekend to participate in the fifth anual BSU Alumni Meet. The 'Old Moldy Green' team captured victories on both the men's and women's side of things as the bulk of the current BSU teams were still away for the semester break.

The BSU Alumni women's team claimed victories in five of 11 events with Caesare Stimson leading the way with wins in the 55-metter dash, 200-meter dash and the high jump. Nicole Fiend (Jr., International Falls, Minn.) held her own for the Beavers placing first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.27. She also grabbed a second-place finish in the high jump clearing 4-08.00.

Sheena Devine (Jr., Harris, Minn.) also collected points for the Beavers earning first place in two field events. She took first in the weight throw marking a distance of 48-03.00 and threw the shot put 47-01.00 to out measure her nearest competitor by nearly seven feet.

On the men's side of things, the current version of the Beavers edged the alumni due to a strong showing in the field events.

Although both the long jump and high jump were claimed by alumni, Steve Sneide and Steve Schreiber respectively, Joe Remitz swept the throwing events and Tommy Crummy gained first in the pole vault with a height of 13-06.00.

Remits took the weight throw with a distance of 55-00.50 and was tops in the shot put with a distance of 52-08.00.

Kyle Nooker (So., Green Bay, Wis.) and Todd Zeidler (Sr., Plentywood, Mont.) garnered the current roster its only top finishes in the running events as Nooker took the 55- and 200-meeter dashes, in times of 6.74 and 23.72 respectively, while Zeidler legged out first place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.70.

Bemidji State teams will officially open their 2007 indoor track and field season Jan. 19-20 at the Gillette Recreation and Fitness Center when the Beavers host the BSU Multi and Super 8 Open.
