ST. PAUL, Minn. -- For the fourth time in his collegiate
career, Joe Remitz (Jr., North Branch, Minn.)
has been selected by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
as one of its Athletes of the Week, the league announced today.
Remitz garners NSIC Male Field Athlete of the Week after a
stellar performance at the University of Wisconsin-Superior
DQ Blizzard Open Saturday (Jan. 27). He not only captured
first place in the shot put out distancing his closest competitor
by more than two feet, his throw of 55-11 stands as his best
toss of 2007 and moves the two-time All-American to fifth
on the NCAA Division II performance list for this season.
He also finished fourth in the weight throw extending the
tape to 53-10 1/3.
Also earning Athlete of the Week accolades this week are:
Winona State’s Emily King (Women’s Field), University
of Mary’s Mishay Weber (Women’s Track) and Tim
Pilakowski (Men’s Track) from Wayne State (Neb.).
Remitz and the rest of the Bemidji State track and field teams
will be back in action this weekend (Feb. 3) as they travel
to Aberdeen, S.D. for the Northern State University Open.
