FARGO, N.D. -- The Bemidji State University men's
and women's track and field teams were in action again last
weekend a they traveled to Fargo, N.D. to participate in the
Bison Classic. Despite the wet and windy weather conditions,
four Beaver athletes placed recording season-best results.
Nicole Friend (Jr., International Falls,
Minn.) led the BSU women's team taking fourth in the javelin
with a distance of 124.50. The throw bettered her previous
season best and allowed her to improve to fourth on the 2007
NSIC outdoor performance list.
In men's competition, senior Todd Zeidler
(Sr., Plentywood, Mont.) recorded a rare second place tie
in the 800-meter run (1:57.58) while he placed fourth in the
javelin (174.07) and posted a season-best time in the 200
meters (23.20).
Zac Preble (Fr., Coleraine, Minn.) logged
his best time of the season to take third in the 400-meter
hurdles clocking a time of 58.72 to improve to 10th on the
2007 outdoor NSIC top-ten list while Michael Hougen
(Sr., Bemidji, Minn.) moved up to eighth in the NSIC posting
his best 110-meter hurdles time of 2007 (15.84) to take fifth.
In the field events, Jon Clemons (So, Princeton,
Minn.) garnered second place in the high jump equaling his
season-best height of 6-4 and Mychael Akre
(Jr., Perham, Minn.) cleared a distance of 21-11.5 in the
long jump moving into fourth place on the NSIC performance
list.
The 2007 Bison Classic was cut short due to rain eliminating
the bulk of the throwing events.
The Bemidji State men's and women's track and field teams
will be back in action this weekend as they split to participate
in pair of events. A handful of men's and women's throwers
are set to head to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays (Apr.
26-28) while the remainder of the student-athletes will head
west to Jamestown, N.D. for the Al Cassel Relays.
