JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- Bemidji State University senior
thrower Lindsay Bergeson (Oklee, Minn.) posted
a season-best distance in the shot put in route to a first
place finish helping lead the Beavers to fifth place at the
Al Cassel Relays in Jamestown, N.D.
Bergeson's 41-06.05 in the shot put not only helped her to
finish atop the field, it also ranks as the third best distance
thrown in the NSIC this outdoor season. The senior also finished
in sixth, just one spot behind teammate Missy Graber
(Fr., Bemidji, Minn.), in the hammer throw with a toss of
126-09.
In the pole vault, Angela Miller (So., Grove
City, Minn.) equaled a season-best 10-00.00 to claim third.
On the track, Shelby Hougen (Jr., Bemidji,
Minn.) placed in three events to pace the squad. She posted
a school record 63.05 in the 400-meter hurdles to move up
one spot into second place on the 2007 NSIC Outdoor performance
list and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor
Championships. She also finished fourth in the triple jump
clearing 34-07.05 while she took fifth in the 100-meter dash
crossing the tape in a time of 13.16.
Other BSU notables were Jamie LeDuc (So.,
International Falls, Minn.), who is also a member of the BUS
women's hockey team, who finished the 400 meters in a time
of 60.80 to take fifth place while Margaret Osgood
(Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) took her first crack at the 3,000-meter
steeplechase finishing fourth with a time of 13:32.8.
On the men's side of things, Jon Clemons
(So., Princeton, Minn.) recorded his best height of the season
in the high jump clearing 6-05.00 to finish second. His season-best
jump puts him three inches over the rest of the NSIC field
with just two weeks left before the 2007 Outdoor Track and
Field Championships.
On the track, Kyle Nooker (So., Green Bay,
Wis.) posted BSU's fastest 400 meter time of the season taking
sixth place in 51.81. Mike Lynch (Fr., Circle
Pines, Minn.) clocked a time of 11:22.7 in the steeplechase
to cross the finish line in sixth place.
The Bemidji State men's and women's track and field teams
will be back in action one last time before the NSIC Championships
when they head to Moorhead, Minn. Saturday for the Ron Masanz
Open.
