ended the season with its best record since 1999 at 15-17 overall.

Bemidji State University volleyball junior
Heather Haugen (Lanesboro, Minn.), senior Kristin
Peterson (Hayfield, Minn.) and junior Kristin
Smith (Rockford, Ill.) have been recognized on the
2003 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Volleyball
Team, announced today by the league offices. All three players
received attention on the honorable mention squad.

The Bemidji State volleyball squad ended
the 2003 campaign in winning fashion, taking a 3-0 affair at
Wayne State (Neb.) tonight. The win marked the first ever in
Wayne, Neb. - BSU was winless the previous four times. The Beavers
finished with a 15-17 overall mark, the best since the 1999
season.

Tonight at the Physical Education Gymnasium,
the Bemidji State (14-17, 6-9 NSIC) volleyball program dropped
its fourth straight season match, this time at the hands of
Southwest Minnesota State (19-11, 9-6 NSIC), 3-0. Scores were

Bemidji State Head Volleyball Coach Kim Falkenhagen
announced the signing of high school seniors Brittney
Carlson (New Prague, Minn.) and Chelsea Utzerath
(Beaver Dam, Wis.) to National Letters of Intent for the BSU
program today. The early signing period began Wed., Nov. 12.

lineman Blaine Thomas, have been named to the
Verizon/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)
College Division Academic All-District V Team, as announced
today by CoSIDA.

team is not too upset this is the final conference match against
No. 11 Minnesota Duluth (14-4, 11-3 NSIC). The Bulldogs, who
will join the North Central Conference for the 2004-05 sports
season, played efficient volleyball, hitting at a .350 (49-13-103)
clip to win 3-0 this afternoon.

team never could muster a rally in getting downed, 3-0, tonight
by Minnesota State, Moorhead (16-11, 8-5 NSIC) at Alex Nemzek

Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 27, announced yesterday
by the league offices.

Facing a 21-23 deficit in game three, Bemidji
State (14-13, 6-5 NSIC) used a 10-5 game-ending run to take
a decisive 2-1 advantage. The Beaver volleyball squad went on
to take game four and defeat Winona State (9-20, 2-8 NSIC),
3-1, and avenge a 2-3 loss to the Warriors, Sept. 19, 2003.

Fighting back from a 1-2 game deficit, the
Bemidji State (13-13, 5-5 NSIC) volleyball squad nearly upset
No. 13 Concordia-St. Paul (21-1, 9-0 NSIC), but the Golden Bears
pulled out the 3-2 victory at the BSU Gymnasium tonight. It
was the 20th straight victory for the Golden Bears on the season.

team dropped its first two games to Northern State (9-14, 3-6
NSIC), but roared back to defeat the Wolves, 3-2, for its first
victory in Aberdeen, S.D. since BSU took a 3-1 contest, Oct.

a tough loss last night and took down SW Minnesota State (13-8,

its second home match of the season in losing, 1-3, to Wayne
State (Neb.) (7-17, 2-5 NSIC) tonight at the BSU Gymnasium.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats continued its recent dominance, winning
their eighth consecutive over the Beavers in the overall series.

but the nationally ranked Bulldogs took the last three games

McDougall (Hitterdal, Minn.) has been named the Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week
for the week of Sept. 29th. Minnesota-Crookston’s Katie
Carlson shared the honor with McDougall.

Putting a halt to its worst conference start
in eight seasons, Bemidji State (9-8, 1-2 NSIC) came away with
a 3-0 sweep of Minnesota-Crookston (4-11, 0-3 NSIC) at the BSU
Gymnasium, tonight. Behind a season-high hitting mark of .336,
the Beavers won by scores of 30-19, 33-31, 38-36.

needed to get out of a rut that has seen it lose five of the
last six on the year. Tonight at the Reif Center, the Beavers
handled the College of St. Scholastica (10-8), 3-1, behind a
season-high .327 (77-25-159) hitting mark. Scores were 20-30,
30-22, 30-18, 30-22.

Bemidji State looks to get back on the winning
track with first a non-conference set at St. Scholastica on
Tuesday and then a home league match vs. Minnesota-Crookston
on Saturday. BSU lost both conference matches over the weekend
and attempt to turn around a stretch that has seen it drop five
of the last six on the season.

At the Gangelhoff Center, Concordia-St.
Paul (12-1, 2-0), which received 72 votes in the latest AVCA
Division II polls, brought down Bemidji State (7-8, 0-2) 3-0.
Scores were 30-16, 30-12 and 30-17. The Golden Bears now own
a 10-match winning streak defeating the likes of No. 10 North
Dakota State earlier in the season.

Kristin Peterson had 14 kills and 17 digs
while Heather Haugen added 14 kills, but it was not enough
for the Beavers as Bemidji State dropped a 3-2 decision to
Winona State to open NSIC play tonight. BSU led 25-23 in Game
3 but dropped the game, 30-28, before ralling to win Game
4, 30-25. But the Warriors prevailed 15-10 in the pivotal
fifth game to take the match.
