BEMIDJI,, Minn. - The Bemidji State University volleyball team will host a Co-Ed Hi-Lo 6’s Volleyball Tournament on Dec. 8, 2007 and a Reverse 4 Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament on Jan. 26, 2008 at the BSU Gymnasium. Members of the campus community, Bemidji and surrounding area are encouraged to form teams and compete.
Teams competing in the Co-Ed Hi-Lo tournament will need to be made up of three men and three women per team. The games will alternate from the men’s net height (where men play in the front row) and a women’s net height (where the women play the front row). A coin toss will determine which net is used for a third game.
Reverse 4 is played on nets set according to the NCAA women’s regulation height of 7-4 1/2. Teams of four must be co-ed including at least one male or female. All male players are considered back row players at all times and therefore may not block, or attack a ball completely above the height of the net from in front of the three-meter attack line. Female players are always considered front row. Players must rotate the server and maintain that order throughout the game.
Format for the tournaments will be pool play followed by bracket play later in the day. The winner of the bracket will be the tournament champion.
Registration for the Co-Ed Hi-Lo 6’s tournament is $90.00 ($15.00/player) and for the Reverse 4’s tournament is $60.00 ($15.00/player). All proceeds support the BSU volleyball program.
For questions or to register contact Todd Frauenholtz at tfrauenholtz@bemidjistate.edu or Laurie Bitter at 218-755-3784. Teams can also register by mailing a check for the allotted amount, team name and all participating members to BSU volleyball, 1500 Birchmont Drive NE #29, Bemidji, MN 56601.
