The Bemidji State University volleyball season came to an end Tuesday evening as the eighth-seeded Beavers fell to 2007 regular season champion and top-seeded Concordia-St. Paul, 3-0 (30-15, 30-28, 30-22), in the quarterfinal round of the 2007 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Bemidji State University senior outside hitter Brittney Burns (LeSueur, Minn.) has been selected to the 2007 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Honorable Mention Team the league today announced. Burns’ selection is the second consecutive all-conference award she has garnered. Burns’ is the lone BSU player to earn all-conference honors since Heather Haugen and Kristin Smith were named to the team following the 2004 campaign.

The Bemidji State University volleyball team will travel to St. Paul, Minn., tomorrow evening for a quarterfinal match-up with the No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears. This will be the third straight season that BSU has meet Concordia-St. Paul in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. from the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of CSP.

The Beavers will travel to No. 3 Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday, Oct. 23 to play the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. at Romano Gymnasium. The Beavers will then set out on its longest road trip of the season as the Beavers will play the Wayne State (Neb.) Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. and then will wrap up the week with a trip to Marshall, Minn. on Saturday, Oct. 27 to face No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State University at 3:00 p.m.

The Bemidji State University volleyball prevailed in four games, 3-1, over the Upper Iowa University Peacocks from the BSU Gymnasium Sunday afternoon. The Beavers earned the victory by scores of 30-26, 30-25, 26-30, and 30-25 to pick up its ninth win of the season, the most wins since 2004 when BSU garnered 10 wins.

will play three conference matches this week. On Wednesday,
Oct. 17 the Beavers will travel to St. Paul, Minn. to take on

BSU will play host to the Winona State Warriors at 3:00 p.m.
from the BSU Gymnasium. On Sunday, BSU will host Upper Iowa

were swept by the Northern State Wolves at the BSU Gymnasium,
three games to none. With the win the Wolves extend their win
streak over the beavers to six matches and complete the season
series sweep of the Beavers. Northern State earned the three
game sweep by scores of 30-28, 30-20, and 30-25.

made quick work of the University of Mary Marauders as the Beavers
swept U-Mary in three games. The Beavers earned the victory
by scores of 30-11, 30-25, 30-25. With the win over the Marauders
the Beavers end a five-match losing skid to U-Mary and pick
up its first win at home versus the Marauders in just two tries.

to conference play this weekend as the Beavers will play host
to the University of Mary and Northern State University. The
Beavers will be looking to snap five game losing streaks to
both the Marauders and Wolves. The first serve is set for 7:00
p.m. on Friday evening and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon from
the BSU Gymnasium.

In a evenly matched battle between the Bemidji
State Beavers and the St. Cloud State Huskies the Beavers were
able to prevail and sweep the Huskies in the season series for
the first time since 1980. The Beavers held on for the victory
by scores of 30-25, 26-30, 30-25, 31-33, 15-12.

the St. Cloud State Huskies tomorrow evening from the BSU Gymnasium.
This will be the first North Central Conference opponent the
Beavers will play at home this season. Early this season the
Beavers upended the Huskies in four games in St. Cloud, Minn.
The Beavers are currently 6-9 overall and 3-7 in the NSIC while
the Huskies are 8-12 overall and 1-4 versus NCC opponents. The

volleyball team dropped its second consecutive match at home
to the Wayne State College Wildcats. Wayne State upended the
Beavers by scores of 30-25, 29-31, 30-19, and 30-28.

The No. 8 team in the nation, the Southwest
Minnesota State Mustangs were to much for the Beavers to handle
tonight at the BSU Gymnasium as the Mustangs upended the Beavers,
3-0. The Mustangs competed the sweep by scores of 30-23, 31-29
and 30-17.

the MSU Moorhead Dragons tonight at Alex Nemzek Hall located
on the campus of Minnesota State University Moorhead. The Dragons
earned the victory by scores of 30-23, 30-24, and 30-16.

to extend its three game winning streak tomorrow evening when
the Beavers travel to Moorhead, Minn., to take on the MSU Moorhead
Dragons. BSU is currently 6-6 overall and 3-4 in conference
play while the MSUM sits with a 11-4 overall record and a 6-2

best performance of the young season the Beavers saw three players

Team last weekend. This was the second time in as many season’s
that Burns’ was named to the Concordia College Classic
All-Tournament Team. The Beavers went 2-2 in the Classic, garnering
victories over Valley City State and Mayville State and falling
to Black Hills State and Concordia College.

The Bemidji State University volleyball team
is set to open conference play this weekend as the Beavers will
travel the Dakota's over the weekend. The Beavers will open
the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conferecne (NSIC) against the
Northern State Wolves (5-2-0) in Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday, Sept.
7 at 7:00 p.m. and then will play the University of Mary (3-2-0)
on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 3:00 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D. The Beavers
hold a record of 2-2-0 this season.

continued play in the Concordia Invitational today as the Beavers
played the Mayville State Comets and the Concordia College Cobbers.
The Beavers swept the Comets in three games (30-22, 30-27, 30-28)
in the first game of the day but fell to the Cobbers in five
games (27-30, 24-30, 30-15, 31-29, 9-15) in the Beavers final
contest of the Invite. Bemidji State ended the tournament with
a 2-2 record.

opened up it’s 2007 campaign today at the Concordia Invitational
in Moorhead, Minn.
The Beavers went 1-1 on the day beating the Valley City State
Vikings 3-0 (33-31, 30-25, 30-21) in the first game and falling
3-0 against the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets (17-30, 28-30,
27-30) in the night cap.

up it's season the weekend at the Concordia Invitational in
Moorhead, Minn. The Beavers will play it's first game of the
tournament and 2007 season on Aug. 31 against Valley City State

Bemidji State women’s volleyball team has been picked
to finish tenth in the 2007 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
Preseason Volleyball Coaches’ Poll, announced today by
the league office. The Beavers, who finished ninth in the NSIC
in 2006 with an overall record of 3-15, return seven players
from last years’ roster including senior outside hitter
Brittney Burns (LeSueur, Minn.) who was named as a 2007 NSIC
Player to Watch in the same poll.

Bemidji State head volleyball coach Laurie
Bitter today announced that she has commitments from
seven incoming student-athletes for the 2007 season. The class
includes five young ladies that have signed National Letters
of Intent to attend BSU as freshmen in the fall while two are
transferring into the program after successful junior college
careers.

and new head coach Laurie Bitter will host
a pair of summer youth volleyball camps June 18-21th at the
BSU Gymnasium. Volleyball players grades 3-6 and 7-12 in Bemidji
and surrounding area are encouraged to register by May 25th

Dr. Rick Goeb today announced the hiring of
Laurie Bitter as BSU's head volleyball coach.
Bitter becomes the 12th head coach in the 37-year history of
the program and begins her new duties Monday, March 19th.
