2008-09 (Freshman):  Epema played in all 27 games for BSU, starting 24…She averaged 11.1 points per game in overall contests and a 11.0 clip in conference play…Recorded double-digits in points in 16 games, including nine games in a row in double-figures and two over 20…Established a career-high 22 points in a 112-108 overtime loss to Upper Iowa, Nov. 29, playing in 40 minutes…Was the team’s top scorer in seven games…Led the team in 3-pointers made with 73 and owned a .353 shooting percentage from beyond the arc…Her 207 3-point attempts established a BSU single season record…Also, led the team in minutes with 30.0 and averaged 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Crookston High School Career: Epema will make the 90-mile trip east on Highway 2 to Bemidji to join the women’s basketball program. While at Crookston High School she was a two-sport standout as a focal point of both the Pirates’ girl’s basketball and softball programs.. .the eight time letter winner (3 letters basketball - 5 letters softball) has been a three year starter for the Pirates girls basketball team...throughout her career she started 60 games averaging 9.5 ppg, 2.5 apg and 2.1 rpg while shooting at a clip of .437 (214-489) from the field and .380 (100-265) from behind the three point arc...Epema was also a .810 percent free-throw shooter during her career...during the 2005-06 season she set the Crookston High School record with 62 three-point field goals made...was a member of two state teams who finished second in 2005-06 and third in 2007-08...a multidimensional student-athlete, Epema is a all-conference performer on the softball field...she is accomplished in the class room as she is a consistent member on the “A” honor roll and has received the Spotlight on Scholarship Gold Certificates, in addition she has been active in student council, Leo club, true players and choir.

Curfman on Epema: “One of the reasons we are so excited about Sydney is because she is an excellent three point shooter which is one of our needs for next season. Also, she is a very hard worker, she competes, and she has a great basketball I.Q. I think Sydney is going to be able to come in and help us right away.”

Personal: The daughter of Brad and Jana Epema...she was born June 15, 1990 in Crookston, Minn...Epema is majoring in exercise science at BSU.
