The Gillett Fitness and Recreation Center

In 1990, Bemidji State underwent a $7 million renovation project, remodeling the Physical Education Complex and constructing the new recreation and Fitness Center, providing Bemidji State University with the finest facilities in the Midwest.

Over 800 members participate daily in rec center activities, including intramural, physical education classes, clinics, individual training, and special outdoor programs such as sailing, canoeing, mountain biking, cross country skiing.  Accouterments include a six-lane, 200-meter indoor track (Action 400 breathable polyurethane), a 3,000 square foot weight training room, five racquetball/handball courts, a multi-purpose facility with area for four full court gymnasiums (lined for tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton), an elevated dance studio and a human performance laboratory.

The Beaver football team utilizes the center for practice sessions during inclement weather.
