The recital, which is open to the public free of charge, will feature two trombone quartets and a trombone quintet, all under the direction of Dr. Joel Pugh, assistant professor of low brass.
Included in the program will be a wide variety of music by composers such as Claude Debussy, Leslie Bassett, John Philip Sousa and Thom Ritter George, among others. The program will conclude with Bill Holcome's arrangement of "Doo-Dah Suite," a tribute to 19th century U.S. songwriter Stephen Foster whose many well-loved songs include "Camptown Races," "Oh! Susanna" and "My Old Kentucky Home."
The musicians
Performing in one or more of the ensembles will be the following five music students, including three seniors, in addition to Pugh who will also play:
• Clint Valnes, senior music education major from Sisseton, S.D.;
• Alex Carlson, senior music performance major from Trimont, Minn.;
• Aron Bohnert, senior music education major from Glencoe, Minn.;
• Matt Custer, sophomore music major from Grand Rapids, Minn.; and
• Ben Fleming, freshman music performance major from Edina, Minn.
